GOLD AND SILVERSMITH GUILD OF AUSTRALIAIn 1988 Tony Kean was a co-founder of the Gold and Silversmith Guild of Australia. He was its internal secretary for over twenty years, and then its treasurer until 2007 when he relinquished his position on the guild council.
This organization was incorporated with the specific aims of protecting the standards of Australian craftsmanship in this industry and identifying them by means of a marking scheme for genuinely Australian made items of precious metals.
The Guild now has members in every state, using this marking scheme, which identifies the maker, the materials used, the guild mark (Australian Made) and the year of the manufacture.
